2010/2011 Inductees
1983 Girls Volleyball State Champion Team
The Hall of Fame Committee, after consulting with members of the community, determined that the moving the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to the spring would better serve the RAL community. The late fall/early winter ceremonies of earlier years caused some travel difficulty for inductees, their family, and friends.
Experience and enthusiasm are two words that best describe the 1983 Lumberjill volleyball team. With the return of eight letterwomen including five outstanding seniors, the Lumberjills had hoped to challenge their third St. Helens Conference Title. They began the 1983 season with a 30 game league winning streak and ended the season still counting at 44. In their four years at R.A. Long the seniors registered 50 league wins and zero losses. Led by returning all conference players Anne Armstrong, LeAnn Coates and Jennifer Rooklidge they had hoped to duplicate their 1982 season. Instead they had the best season in the history of R.A. Long High School. They were first in the league, first in the district, first in the Lumberjill Invitational and of course first in the state. Five of the players were named to the All Conference Team; Sheryl Peterson, LeAnn Coates, Anne Armstrong, Jennifer Rooklidge and Amy Earnest. The coach Bill Marshall was inducted in the R.A. Long Hall of Fame in 1997 and The Washington Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008.
